IDIS 205 - Climate to COVID: Seeing the Syndemic - Spring 2021

Ended May 28, 2021

Full course description

Rapid environmental change, pandemic infectious disease, obesity, and undernutrition are co-occurring problems that may be understood as a “syndemic” because of their global reach and the common factors that drive them. The interconnected roots and impacts of this syndemic are increasingly evident through the health and socioeconomic disparities amplified by COVID-19 across diverse populations. This course, “Climate to COVID: Seeing the Syndemic,” will explore causes and solutions to the syndemic from various disciplinary perspectives and levels of analysis through lectures and discussions with experts from within and outside the Salisbury University community. Topics for each Monday evening from January 25th to May 3rd can be found at: https://www.salisbury.edu/events. Lectures are free to community members who enroll through Succeed or students may register for course credit.
